where are the best spots to fish in fall for smallmouth bass on the columbia river?

Interested in finding the patterns to catch smallmouth bass in fall on the columbia river; the best locations and times to catch bass.

1. Do you have any idea how long the Columbia River is? Can you narrow down the area a bit?

2. I go to the area behind Bonneville Dam. I have a couple of favorites spots, but I'm not telling. :)

If you have a boat, throw in a line from any of the small islands dotting the river.

3. I don't know about the Columbia but the Dechutes has plenty of smallmouth bass.
