What is the best way to catch smallmouth bass? Now i would like to go fishing mostly for smallmouth bass in the holloway reservoir in lapeer MI but i have never fished there before and if you have i would love to know what the best way to catch smallmouth bass is and if you catch other fish there then id like to hear what and how also but if you have never fished in the holloway reservoir but you have fished for smallmouth in very sandy brown water then id love to hear any tips thanks a lot!

How do I catch smallmouth bass in a lake? I live on a lake in British Columbia and I can see sizable bass swimming right off the edge of my dock. I got very exited when I saw them and tried a hook with a worm but it went completely ignored even when it was right in front of their noses. The water is not deep (maybe 8 feet). Why is it so necessary to release Large and Smallmouth bass? I mean people take every other fucking fish in the lake especially the big ones that repopulate the lake. So why is every damn bass fisherman so anal about the keeping of bass. It's as if you will be hunted down for it. They're just another fish. People have told me because the fish never get stocked regularly, so what about panfish such as redear they don't reproduce all that much and people keep them as if there is an unlimited supply.
